Howdy Treasure Hunter..

Have you ever thought about using a gold dredge for finding coins and rings in swimming holes? I did at one time. My dream was that you could just suck up all the sand on the bottom of swimming holes and sift out all the coins and rings...

Back around 1980 or thereabouts I read a story in Western Eastern Treasure magazine that was about doing exactly what I had been wanting to do. It was titled "The Popcorn Machine". The story described how the writer had a dredge and was using it to find literally hundreds of rings and coins. Accompanying the story was a picture of dozens of gold rings the writer had found.

Man I was on fire..!!!! I called the Western Eastern Treasures magazine to get his phone number. The magazine wisely would not give out the phone number but took mine and told me they would pass it on to the writer.

I waited for the phone call back. Several days later he gave me a call.... we discussed the process and how well he was doing with the dredge. I was hoping for just some advice but got a lot more...He invited me to come to join him on a dredging hunt..!!! I could not believe that he was going to let me see how it was done and take me to one of his favorite sites. We set up a date and all I needed to do then was just wait till it was time for the appointed day....

This story will be continued.....
